Oiled long Cobra briad made by mother today
Hello friends, I am Priyamvad a long hair man from India.
I have waist length hair.
Today is Ramadan Eid. Happy Eid to my Muslim friends and
blog visitors. Today is public holiday. I didn't go to office today.
I woke up late. I decided to wash my hair today. My
mother asked me to wash hair with Shikekai powder. She hates shampoos and
conditions which contain harmful chemicals.
I washed hair with homemade shikekai powder and after
elaborate bath, I rolled my hair in towel topknot to dry.
After drying my hair, my mom came with a bottle of
Parachute coconut oil and asked me to sit on floor. She poured coconut oil on
my scalp and started applying coconut oil to other portion of hair. After
applying lots of oil, she started combing my hair with a wide tooth comb and
removed tangles and dreadlock if any. Then she took a fine-tooth comb and again
neatly brushed my hair backword.
My mom suggested to sport hair today in single braid
since I don't have to go to office.
Then she made a nice tight braid of my hair.
My braid is just looking like a black cobra.
I love my long hair and I will continue to grow them.
I have a Sikh girlfriend who encourages me to grow hair
like Sikh men.
I am growing hair because my spiritual master asked me to
take vow not to cut hair and I have been growing since last 7 years.
Regular hair oiling by my mother and sister made my hair
strong, shiny and long. Thanks

A post Every Sikh Boy & Sikh Mother should see and practice
Greetings!!!
Although I am a Tamil boy, I respect Sikhism.
I am posting step by step guide of making topknot (Juda) of a long hair Sikh boy by his mother.
I also have similar hair and my mother helps me to sport hair in same fashion.
Please share your comments and requesting you to add similar pictures in my blog.
Step 1
Sikh boy with wonderful long hair. He has washed his hair today and dried them. Hence they look frizzy. His mother is holding a bowl containing lots of hair oil (Sesame oil) and she has started applying it on his scalp.
Step 2
Mother is also a devout Sikh woman. She is sporting hair in a topknot and wearing a keski.
She continue to apply hair oil on long hair of her son. What a proud mother.
Step 3
Mother has applied lots of hair oil on scalp and roots of hair and now she is applying on the strands.
Its an amazing experience. Son must be enjoying it.
Step 4
Oiling is done. Just see well oiled long hair of son. He is combing it neatly; starting from back of his head. He is removing matted hair and he will preserve them and one day he will drown it in holy river.
Its amazing to see well oiled long, straight hair of a Sikh Boy. A true Sikh.
Step 5
Now mother is all set to tie son's hair in a topknot (Juda). She has combed hair once again and see difference between first photo frizzy hair versus well oiled slick hair combed forward.
Son has bowed in front of mother which is mark of respect to mother and divine Kesh (Hair)
Step 6
Sikh mother has started braiding son's long hair. Braiding will keep his hair secured and manageable.
Since son has long hair, his brais will be like a long thick rope.
Step 7
Mother is almost done with braiding. Last few inches of hair length remaining.
Look at well oiled neat long hair braid. Guruji has really blesses this Sikh boy.
Step 8
Braiding is completed. Mother is coiling son's braid on his head and she will make a knot of his long braid and create a topknot (Juda)/ She will secure it with string. Finally son will sport a Patka and all set for daily chorus.

Tight oiled braids for concentration in studies - Meera's Story
My name is Seema
So I am married for almost 2 years now and live with my husband In laws and Sister in law.
She is in class 8th. Her name is meera.
When I first got married I observed that she has beautiful hair. However she just din oil them regularly.
My mil is also not strict about it as meera just did not listen.
She used to oil her hair on weekends and throughout he week it was regular light oiling or sometimes no oil at all. Also in her school for high school kids there no compulsory braiding.
She is good at her studies but I noticed how she plays with her hair 100times while studying.
I believe that a school girl or any student should be well disciplined and especially have oiled and neat hair.
She loved fashion and I dnt think this is her age to do so especially at the time of studying.
I spoke to my MIL about this and she agreed with me and asked me to take the responsibility.
Initially meera din agree with me And back answered so I had to be very strict with her. I once or twice pulled her ears also. She eventually realized I am very strict and she has to listen to me.
So now I oil her hair regularly and heavily. But never till it drips. I think even driping oil can be irritating and messy. I just make sure all her hair is well oiled. I then just check for lice as she is a school going girl and may catch it in class. However m glad she has not faced lice problem so far.
Then I Comb the hair well and then I make two parts of her hair with sometimes centre and sometimes side partition. Then I make 2 tight braids of her hair and i also use a ribbon to tie them up and make a bow. I don't like the braid to be hanging and she sit and plays with them whole day. As she has long hair I have to fold them up.
And I totally agree with all the moms who oil their kids hair everyday with two folded braids.
I plan to continue doing this to Meera till she finishes her education.
Also I let her wash her hair on weekends and dnt apply oil on Sunday. It's her holiday and she can do whatever hairstyle she likes. But on Monday again she had to compulsory go back to properly oiled hair and two braids.
This is the routine I follow with her.
Everyday I wake her up for college a little early Coz we spend good time in taking care Of her hair. and she takes bath and does her daily morning jobs like cleaning her bed, packing bags and then we eat breakfast.
After that I make her sit on a low stool and I sit on sofa or bed.
I use parachute coconut oil for her.
I use a good amount of oil and massage it and comb her hair properly. I then check for live but luckily she doesn't have that problem.
Then I ensure all her hair is properly oiled and then I make two partitions of her hair. Then I make a tight braid in in side near her ear and braid it till the end and then use a black ribbon to fold it tie it near her ear.
Then I similarly make another braid in the other side.

I am Tamil man - Why I sport hair like a Sikh?
Why I sport my hair in a bun on top of my head. I work in a office and this hairstyle is very convinient to hold long hair. I wrap cloth on my hair in cloth like Sikh boy. So it protects hair from dust and pollution.
When my hair length was upto shoulder, I used to sport them in a ponytail or a bun. But the bun size is very large and if I sport braid, it crosses my mid back. Long CHOTI.
Also, I respect Sikh Religion a lot! I wish I would have taken birth as a Sikh, so I could have grown hair since my childhood and entire family would be sporting long hair irrespective of gender and it would have been fun indeed to oil and comb each others hair.
It's a great respect to god the almighty. "Wahe Guru"
Probably my deep respect for Sikh relligion has bestowed upon me a Sikh friend.
I style like a woman. I do it while at home.
So my long hair gives me an opportunity to be like a man and a woman. I am indeed thankful to god the almighty for my long hair.

My Sikh friend - Japtej Kaur encourages me to be like a Sikh man
Last 2 months, I had abnormal hair growth and now my hair touch waist. Almost 5 centimetre growth in 2 months.
My Sikh friend Japtej Kaur is in regular touch and she encourages me to be like a Sikh man all the time.
But my mother wants me to be like a girl at least at home.
Today, being Sunday, I washed hair with shampoo and conditioned it.
Mother asked me to shave.
So, I got to know about her intentions. After drying hair, she grabbed Parachute coconut oil bottle and asked me to sit on floor. She poured handful of oil on my scalp and started patting on scalp. Then she evenly applied oil on my head and then on strands. Each hair strand was coated with coconut oil. Then she took a fine-tooth comb and brushed my hair backword. She was combing with gentle strokes. I stood and she was standing behind me neatly combing hair. Finally, she started making braid. She made a nice tight braid of hair. She asked me to wear my sister’s clothes. I sported Salwar Khamis and applied bindi on my forehead. Mother was very happy to see me in a woman's attire. Whole day, I lived like a girl.
In the evening, Japtej Kaur called me and asked me if we can meet. So, I had to change my attire. I sported my normal man's cloths and I thought I will sport hair like a Sikh man. So, I opened my braid and combed hair forward and made a tight bun of hair on top of my head and then sported a patka. My mother was unhappy. She doesn't like a Tamil family boy becoming Sikh.
I met Japtej Kaur in the garden. She had sported a braided bun of her beautiful hair, well oiled. I smelled her hair she had applied Dabur Amla hair oil.
I shared with her my dilemma of living dual personality. She laughed and said, it’s good that you have long hair like girls so that you can fulfil wish of both mother and girlfriend.

I want to sport hair like Sikh man but mother insists on briad
I am posting after 11 days. After my date with Japtej Kaur
on 5th Feb 18; I went home and I was sad to find my mother upset with my attire
of Sikh man.
She is suggesting me to sport hair bun at least like a woman
at nape and not on top of head like a Sikh man.
I am trying to convince her that hair bun on top of head is
a convenient hairdo for me because I go to office and I can cover hair under my
patka
Also, my hairdo resembles Lord Shiva. I have taken vow not
to cut hair for spiritual reasons.
So, let me be myself.
But mothers being mothers very kind at heart and too much
attached, don't get convinced.
She kept on telling that I miss my daughter and when you
sort hair like a woman, I don't miss her.
She removed patka from my head and opened topknot. My waist
length hair cascaded straight from head on my face.
Mother observed that patka cloth has soaked all hair oil
which she applied in the morning.
She wanted to oil my hair again and make a nice braid.
So, again she applied hair oil and brushed back my hair and
neatly combed them. Then she tied hair in a nice braid (Choti)
She made 28 knots in braid. 27 knots are 28 lunar
mansions(Nakshatras)as per Hindu mythology. 28 knots of a braid bring good
luck.
After making braid, she was satisfied and she told me not to
open braid anymore.
Next day morning, I sported a braided bun of hair and went
to office. Mother is happy.
Boss is not happy. He suggested, you better sport patka like
a Sikh man. I asked him to excuse me for the day.
Next day I carried patka cloth with me to office and sported
patka in men's change room.
But when I go home and open my waist length hair and look in
mirror, I get immense pleasure. It's an investment. With regular oiling and
taking care, I got wonderful hair. It's god's gift. I can manage challenges
associated to it.

A Sikh Girl curious about my long hair - Visit to Sikh family
I have 3 women in my life who appreciate my long hair and
encourage me to grow them long and strong. They take care of my hair through
hair oiling, head massage and helping me to sport in different styles. First are
my elder sister Uma, my mother Laxmi and my cousin Savita.
Now, there is one more addition to this group of women, a
young Sikh girl Japtej Kaur whom I met in bus and she was curious about my long
hair. We decided to meet. Today being weekly off, we decided to meet at Japtej Kaur’
s home.
Since I met her, I stopped shaving and allowed facial hair
to grow and I have been coiling my hair on top of my head like a Sikh boy in my
home also.
My mother was upset with me as she wants me to be like her
daughter at home wearing Uma's clothes, sporting hair like a woman and clean
shaven.
Mother asked me, Why you are living like a Sikh man? I gave
lame excuse.
Today morning, I again rolled my hair on top of head in a
topknot and wrapped them in patka as sported by Sikh boys.
I went to Japtej Kaur’ s home. When I entered her house, I
found two pretty girls with hair reaching their buttockss. I recognized Japtej
Kaur the other one was her young brother with equally long hair. His name is
Satvir Singh.
His mother entered in the drawing room. She was sporting her
thick long hair in a nicely oiled braid.
Her father works in India Army and currently posted in
Assam.
Japtej Kaur introduced me to her mother and younger brother.
Her mother was so happy to see a Sikh boy but Japtej Kaur clarified that he is
not a Sikh man but a Tamil boy with long hair.
They insisted me to remove my patka and show them my long
hair.
So, I opened my topknot and let my long hair loose. With
strokes of hand, I made them straight and brushed back.
My hair length is crossing my mid back. All of them
appreciated my hair length and quality of hair.
Mother appreciated my vow, not to cut hair and encouraged
me.
Since, Japtej Kaur and Satvir Singh have washed their hair,
aunty wanted to oil and comb their hair. She asked me to watch their hair oiling
She brought a bottle of Sesame oil. Sesame oil is popular in
Punjab for hair oiling.
She began with Japtej Kaur. She poured handful of oil in
palm and poured on her scalp. Then she massaged her head by tapping her palm
over her head. Again she poured large quantity of oil in palm and started
applying on her long hair. Her hair was neatly oiled. Then she brushed her hair
backward and started combing neatly. She removed tangles and matted hair and
preserved them as Hair is god’s gift for Sikhs so they don't throw it in
garbage but in Holy River at their pilgrimage centre.
She started braiding her hair and what a beautiful, shiny
tight braid crossing her buttocks. Amazing.
Then she asked her to prepare tea for us and called Satvir
Singh.
She asked her to take his hair in front and combed them in
reverse direction. She poured lots of hair oil and combed his hair from his
neck in front direction. After combing, she started braiding in reversed
direction and after his braid was done, she coiled his braid on top of his
head.
It was my turn. Mother suggested me to sport hair like
Satvir Singh and I also sported oiled braided bun.
We chatted over a cup of tea and then I signed out.
At home, mother smelled my hair and asked me which hair oil
you applied, when I replied sesame oil she was not happy at all.
It's clash of culture. In south India its coconut oil
preferred whereas in north its sesame oil
Mother asked me to wash it thoroughly so that I can get rid
of it.
It's situation like "Two States" movie in our
home.
Let's see.

Reminisces 1 : Childhood Hair Care - Nostalgia
Whenever I see Sushmita Sen tossing her glorious mane while endorsing a brand of shampoo I am taken back to an era where letting hair open was a taboo and shampoo, a mysterious commodity hardly found in shopping lists of India. It also brought back haunting memories of the travails of my thick long black hair which while evoking envious glances from people around while also hiding a painful story of grooming it.
My long hair had an ambitious guardian in my grandmother. The daily ritual started in the morning with my grandmother applying liberal amount of coconut oil followed by combing the hair with a wide teeth comb and then again with a fine teeth comb to remove nits or lice. Then a center parting was taken and two tight straight plaits were made which ended with black ribbons knotted tightly. The same ritual was repeated without fail in the evening after my return from school. Even a slight movement of my head during this ritual would get me a tight slap on my back.
She used to make a concoction of oils with hibiscus flowers and mehendi leaves boiled on slow heat and then cooled and filtered. The strong smell of the oil meant that I received stern warnings from the school to not use such nauseatingly strong smelling hair oils in the future.
Sunday was the day I dreaded the most as it was the day for oil bath. Early morning I would find my grandmother wake me up and apply hot oil with cumin seeds and pepper on my hair. After this, she would vent her anger on my innocent scalp, with heavy pounding and tapping in the name of massage followed by washing with Shikakai powder soaked in the starch of cooked rice.
The next process was of drying the hair. With no hair dryers at that time, my grandmother would burn charcoal pieces, with sambrani powder sprinkled on them, on a spatula with a bamboo basket covering it where I had to spread my hair. Once that was done, the hair was combed back into tight plaits.
The customary oil bath was a traumatic experience leaving me with a throbbing headache. Once my hair was infested with lice and nits and when all the efforts of my grandmother failed, she took the extreme step of dousing my hair with a mixture of kerosene and gamaxin powder (both pesticides). While there were instant results for such an extreme step, it left me with an itching scalp with painful boils all over. We had to seek the advice of a doctor and it took some time before the condition of my scalp improved.
Now I look at my dull grey hair, looking forlorn. In these days when a simple hair treatment in a beauty parlour makes one poorer by a few thousands I marvel at my grandmother who gave me all those hair treatments for free!

Dressed like a school girl - Twin braids
Today morning I firstly had clean shave and then I washed hair with shampoo and then conditioned them with apple cider vinegar plus water mixture. Then I rinsed conditioner with water again. I wrapped hair in towel and rolled them in a bun on head for drying.
I asked mother to give me her sari, blouse. Mother suggested me to wear salwar kamij of Uma (my elder sister). I was ok with it for a change.
I wore clothes on my own. For draping saree I need a woman's help for sure right now.
My hair still wrapped in towel. After 20 minutes, I removed towel and dried hair with gentle towel strokes.
Then I called Uma for doing my hair as she promised yesterday.
I picked up coconut oil bottle and wide tooth and fine tooth comb. I sat on floor with my open hair covering my back. My hair with bit damp.
Uma poured oil in a cup and started applying on my scalp. Then she evenly applied on head by making portions and finally over length of hair. She applied extra quantity on hair ends.
First she combed hair with wide tooth comb and after detangling, she started combing with fine tooth comb. She brushed all hair backward.
My hair looking sleek and tightly combed. She asked shall I make a single braid?
I requested her to make school braids. She middle parted hair and made 2 sections. She asked mother to give ribbons as school braids need it.
She completed one braid and made a loop and tied again near head with ribbon. And then she finished second loop of braid.
Then she put little make up on my face with bindi, earrings etc.
Today I was in avatar of a school girl. I had spiritual high.
My feminine side is getting balanced.
I was in meditative state for quite some time.

Oiling and braiding my sisters hair
My mother's well oiled braid looked so beautiful that my elder sister Uma was quite impressed. She was curious and asked mother who did your hair? Mother replied my new daughter "Priya"
Uma was after me to do her hair. She brought hair oil and two combs.
She sat on floor and I sat behind her on chair.
I opened Uma's braid. Her waist length hair cascaded on her back. They needed oiling.
Uma asked me to apply lots of hair oil since she wanted sleek look of her hairstyle.
I mid parted her hair with comb and poured hair oil on her scalp and patted with palm. Then I massaged her head.
I applied oil on back of her head and then coated strands with oil. She was seeing it in mirror held in hand.
When she was satisfied with amount of oil, I started combing her hair with wide tooth comb. I removed damaged hair, matted hair, detangled.
Then I combed with a regular comb. Oil was dripping after every stork of comb. I applied oil again onger scalp.
Once oil soaked, I asked her which hairstyle she wants? She opted for a braided bun.
I made a nice tight braid of her hair and rolled it into a bun. I secured with pins.
My sister was looking very beautiful in sleek hair and braided bun.
Since I am living as a woman, my sister is happy because she has a sister.
She promised me to do my hair tomorrow.
Since it was night, I thought I shall sleep with simple bun or topknot. Braided bun will be uncomfortable.
Uma opened my braided bun and she combed my hair.
I decided to wear topknot. brushed my hair forward and rolled them into bun on top of head.
I was looking forward for my sister to do my hair.

Uma opened my braided bun and she combed my hair.
I decided to wear topknot. brushed my hair forward and rolled them into bun on top of head.
I was looking forward for my sister to do my hair.
Oiling and braiding mothers hair
Right now I am living as a woman as per advice of my spiritual master. So we are three women in home. 2 real - my mother and elder sister and third myself as temporary status until my feminine side of personality is balanced.
Mother said, since you are also a girl, please do my hair today. My mother has long hair upto waist length which she normally keeps tied in bun or sports a braid.
She applies coconut oil almost everyday. Her age is 52 but still not a single grey hair.
She sat on floor and I sat on a chair behind her. I poured coconut oil on her scalp and patted on her scalp. Then I poured some more oil on my palm and applied on her head. I gave her a good head massage.
After head massage, I applied oil on her strands and then I combed hair with gentle strokes. I removed tangles.
My mothers hair looking sleek and straight.
Then I made 3 portions of her hair and started braiding. I made a tight braid of my mothers hair.
She was very happy to see a well oiled nice tight braid. She complimented me.
I love my mother. Its her care and nourishment that I could grow my hair long although being a man.
I tied a festoon of Jasmine flowers on her braid.
I will update on my experience of living as a woman

Be like a woman for balancing feminine side of personality (yin-yang)
I am a long hair man. I have been growing hair since last 6 years and my hair length around 2 feet which reach my mid back. I have been growing hair for spiritual reason and I have taken a vow not to cut my hair as advised by my spiritual master.
I oil my hair everyday to keep them healthy, neat and tidy.
Normally I wear my hair in topknot like lord Shiva.
Since last few days, feminine side of my personality became prominent. I felt that I am consort of Lord Shiva and I had a desire of being a woman.
I consulted my spiritual master and he recommended me to balance male and female (yin-yang)energies in my personality which is evident after deep meditation for longer duration.
He suggested me to live like a woman for few days, unless my feminine side is balanced and desire is fulfilled.
So the journey towards temporarily becoming a woman started.
I shaved my beard.
I requested my mother to sport my hair like a woman which she happily agreed. I washed my hair and wrapped them in a towel bun on top of my head to dry.
After few minutes, my mother asked me to seat on floor and she sat on a stool with a bottle of Parachute coconut oil.
Mother applied coconut oil elaborately on my scalp and other portions of head. She elaborately applied oil to each hair strand head to end. I was holding a mirror in my hand and I was enjoying sleeking of hair by mother.
Then mother combed my hair with several strokes of comb which evenly spreaded oil. Then she started braiding my hair. She made a nice tight braid of my long oiled hair.
Mother asked me whether I would like to tie a braided bun? which I happily agreed. Mother rolled my hair in a braided bun and secured with pins.
I loved my sleek hair and braided bun so much. I was satisfying feminine side of my personality.
My mother had brought jasmine flowers stringed together (Gajra) and she decorated my braided hair bun by tying Gajra around it.
Then she helped me to wear blouse, sari. I sported bindi, I wore ear rings.
I has spiritual high and I was enjoying my transformation.
Next day, mother oiled hair and made a nice tight braid.
I am enjoying being in this state

Hair Oiling of a girl from Kerala - My friend Kavya Nair
I daily oils my hair with coconut oil. As an Keralite , we go to bath after applying oil to hair and we don't wash off the oil from the hair completely.
This gives the advantage of non sticky hair. Also I apply oil to scalp in large quantity than the remaining sides of the hair. Applying to scalp spreads to each corner. I dont let go one day without oiling my hair. Sometimes on Sunday I fully wash my hair without remaining oil contents, but the other day I applies in large quantity and that too I don't use shampoo or soap but just pour warm water to avoid from removing oil contents from my hair.
Again the next day till Sunday I only applies to scalp and rubs gently. We should keep in mind that if don't want to oil in each corner of the scalp then just oil heavily to the upper part of the heads scalp, this will spread the oil contents to each and every corner.
I have a very long hair as most of the keralites have and oiling the hair daily is in the Malayalam tradition and I follow to great extent. This has resulted to long thick hair. Please try the above and post your comments

Painful lice combing schedule for a man
I am a 28 years old male living in vikhroli mumbai. I live alone here since last 4 years and my family is in my native.i keep long hairs upto my waist and normally tie it in a pony or a plait or some time in a bun.
Since last 1 month i have been suffering with lice infection in my hair. As a stay alone i have no one to take care of it . So i discussed this with my neighbour's daughter who is very close to me. She initially laughed at me, but then told me she will come next day afternoon. I wondered what she was going to do. Next day she came in the afternoon and showed me the lice comb she had bought for me. She asked me to bring coconut oil bottle and sit facing my back to her.
She Opened my plait and started searching for nits in hair by moving her fingers in my hair. After some time she oiled my hair heavily and started combing my hairs with lice come. She found many and handed over to me for killing. This continued for about 1 hour until no more lice were found in lice comb. Then she tied my hair in bun and asked me to clean my clothes and keep the comb.
She told she will repeat this after 2 or 3 days so as to get rid of lice. I thanked her. I immediately felt a huge relief by itching scalp. after another 2 sessions i got much relief. Atlast i thought i was free from lice.
But again yesterday night i felt lot of itching and so went to her home to ask for lice combing. Her mother (my neighbouring aunt) opened the door and told me she had gone to some relatives place for 2 days. She also told me that her daughter had discussed my lice issue to her and she can do tomorrow morning for me if i don't mind. I smiled and she asked me to bring my lice comb and come to her house.
Today even being sunday i woke early and had bath took the lice comb and went to her place,. She also followed the same routine as her daughter did but oiled my hair more heavily. Just finished 2 hour of lice combing from her. She had asked me not to wash my hair and come in afternoon when she and her 2 maids will make me sit in our common balcony or terrace and do harsh and painful lice combing. Also asked me to buy 3 lice comb and bottle of castor oil which she will mix with coconut oil and apply in my hair before lice combing, just purchased lice combs and castor oil.

Experience 02) Observing a women while oiling her hair
This is one of my another experience which I got when I was at restaurant and bar which was most glass.
I found on the opposite side of the road a small house where I saw a lady which having nice long upto her ass and she comes out for dressing her hair. She opened her braid and oiled it nicely and made a bun for the oil to spread nicely in the hair.
Then after some time she started to comb her hair (after combing her bun). As she was combing her hair it was looking nice and her hair was very thick as she combed the oily hair was looking nice and she combing tightly.
Her full back without part was looking was great. Then draped her on one side and combed it and then made a small ball and combed the bottom of her hair.
Then suddenly her kid cam out and started playing on the road. She ran behind him and her hair was dancing and looking nice.
Then she draped on the other side and combed it nicely. She applied some in the bottom half of her hair some what and again combed with a centre apart. Then she pulled her back and made a nice tightly combed braid. After that rolled it into a nice bun.
